Lakewood Observer
The Lakewood Observer is Lakewood, Ohio's only local newspaper. It's writers, editors, and photographers are all entirely volunteer, and almost all live in Lakewood. I've been with the Lakewood Observer since their inception in the summer of 2005.
The Observer site contains all of the stories that are in the print edition of the paper, along with photoblogs by our photographers, and events calendar, classifieds, and the usual assortment of features.
The site has been through a couple of versions, but the current version was completely designed and implemented by me (except for the phpBB forum). As with all of my work, it was built with accessibility and web standards from the get-go.

Lakewood Observer Member Center
While technically under the umbrella of the Lakewood Observer, the Member Center is an entire web app itself. The entire production side of the paper (with the exception of the layout of the actual print version) happens through the Member Center.
The Member Center also obviously serves as a CMS for the website, serving stories, events, and photos for all to see.

The Cleveland FreeTimes
I completed the redesign of the Free Times website in June of 2007. Using standards and semantic design, I changed what was originally a tag-soup website with a Google Page Rank of 0 (yes, 0...) to a fully accessible site with rich content. Within two weeks of my redesign, the Free Times homepage shot up to a 5 in Page Rank, and weekly visitors jumped 20,000. Mission accomplished.
Highlights of the new design: A custom JavaScript image rotator that dynamically includes the most recent stories, titles, and images while retaining accessibility; SEO-friendly urls; and a custom CMS, where stories, listings, and everything else on the site can be managed.

The Lakewood Experience
Are you experienced? The Lakewood Experience is a sort of Yellow Pages for Lakewood businesses. The Experience is designed to provide users with a simple way to find local businesses and business owners a simple way to find new customers.
The challenge here was to utilize JavaScript using progressive enhancement to ensure that the site worked for all users.
The layout for this site was designed by my good friend Rami Daud.

Ott & Associates Co., LPA
Designed for Steven Ott (my Dad), this site is a basic informational site for Ott & Associates. A custom CMS was created to input new articles and news blurbs, along with the ability to edit the other sections of the site.
The layout for this site was also designed by my good friend Rami Daud.

T-Shirt Museum
The T-Shirt Museum is one of those websites that are pure fun to work on. Originally created to display Jim O'Bryan's extensive T-Shirt collection, it eventually ended up in its current form. Everyone has the ability to submit shirts, and in the CMS, they can be approved and edited for all to see.
